  • If you don’t have one, please get it beforehand at Ticket Offices in major/most train stations that deals with mainly long-distance and reserved seat travel tickets. Although we hold a certain amount of ICC at the shop Kirari (FamilyMart) and/or the front desk of the Guest House, the quantity is presumably limited.
  • For instance, the IC card, ICOCA can be purchased with cash only including a 500-yen deposit at ticketing machines that have English language option at KIX (Kansai International Airport) train stations. You can also buy it at AIOI JR station, the nearest one to the SPring-8/SACLA. Furthermore, the ICOCA can be also used for Shinki bus, the local bus company in this area.
  • ICC charge machines are installed at the entrance of the cafeteria building.
  • You can’t charge the ICCs at the automated cashiers. So please go to the entrance to charge it as necessary.
  • When you don’t need your ICC anymore and want to get the deposit back, please go to your nearest station (e.g. Aioi).In case of ICOCA: A handling fee 220 yen will be deducted from the amount of money remaining on the card. You can get the full deposit of 500 yen back if you return the card empty.

◆Shop (Kirari)

The shop Kirari is the convenience store located in the cafeteria building. The shop sells light meals such as box lunches and snacks, daily necessities, stationeries, newspapers/magazines, SPring-8 goods.The courier service for Yamato Transport, copy and fax services are also available. An ATM can be found in front of Kirari shop at the entrance of the cafeteria building.

◆Visits at SPring-8/SACLA Guest House

In the COVID-19 pandemic, twin rooms were only available for one person usage, but the use of two people usage has started from April 1, 2024.

The Guest House provides accommodation for SPring-8/SACLA users to take rest or waiting during their stay. To stay at the Guest House, users must make a reservation in advance.
On the “Application Form for Spring-8 Facilities (Form 10)”, there are entry field for reservation.

Room Rates

Single room 2,000 yen/night
Twin room 3,000 yen/night

If the single rooms in Building A and B become fully occupied, we will accept reservations for single use in Building C and D (twin rooms).

Check-in and Check-out

Check-in: 16:00 – 23:30
Check-out: 7:00 – 10:30
For check-in, use the automatic check-in machine in the Administration Building of the Guest House. The user ID number (7 digits) applied for at the time of reservation will be accepted. A card key will be issued automatically.

Payment is required at check-out.
Use the automatic check-in machine to check out. The issued card key is required at check-out. (2 sheets are required for twin use)
Payment can be made in cash or by credit card (VISA, MASTER). A receipt will be issued.
The receipt for the fee of Guest Houses C and D (twin room) cannot be split.
If you wish to extend or shorten the period of use, please bring your card key and follow the procedures at the front desk.

*If your arrival will be after 23:30, please contact the front desk in advance by 22:00. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the reservation.
*In case the out of hours “check-in” or “check-out”, please ask to the front desk in advance.

Eligibility for Use of Guest House

Those who can use Guest House

  1. Public/contract/RIKEN beamline users
  2. Participants of on-site conferences/workshops/meetings and NewSUBARU users

The priority of Guest House booking is in this order. As a general rules, the booking for-participants of on site conferences / workshops / meetings or New SUBARU users will be accepted only in case there is a vacancy at 10 days prior of their scheduled date and will be asked to cancel their bookings in the order of the lateness when the bookings by beamline users are exceeded.

Note

Note that the followings are not eligible to use the Guest House: 1. those who visit SPring-8/SACLA for purposes other than research activities conducted at SPring-8/SACLA, 2. site-tour participants, 3. vendors (for delivery, adjustment, and tests), and 4. family members of users for purposes unrelated to user’s visit.

How to Make Guest House Reservation

The reservation method depends on the type of beamline you will be using or purpose of usage.

  1. Public/Contract Beamline Users (users for proposals registered by JASRI)
    On the “Application Form for SPring-8 Facilities”, there is a place to put the usage period of Guest House.
    Project leaders are required to submit an “Application Form for SPring-8 Facilities” online from the following site to make visit arrangements for all team members at least 10 days before arrival (team members cannot make reservations).

    Make your request to User Administration Division via your host researcher/secretary at SPring-8/SACLA.
  2. Participants of On-site Conferences and Workshops
    Organizers of conferences, workshops, etc., are responsible for making Guest House reservations for participants, so please follow the instructions given by the organizer.

Cancellation – Guest House

With the increase in the number of users, the Guest House has always been full with a long waiting list. If you need to cancel your reservation, be sure to notify the Users Office or the Guest House Front Desk immediately, so that as many users as possible can stay at the Guest House.

  • Cancellations must be made before 16:00, 2 days prior to check-in.
  • If you do not cancel your reservation by the deadline, you may be charged for the relevant fee for the number of nights you cancelled.
  • Repeated cancellation without notice may result in the suspension of any other reservation for the remainder of the fiscal year.

*If you cancel your experiment owing to machine trouble, or you cannot come to the campus for reasons such as a natural disaster, bad weather, and transportation delay, please contact the Guest House Front Desk.

How to Be Placed on Waiting List – Guest House

The Users Office will contact you when the Guest House is fully booked. If you wish to be placed on the waiting list, contact the Guest House Front Desk by e-mail promptly and leave (register) the following:

  • Affiliation
  • Name
  • Requested dates of stay
  • Room type (single room in Guest Houses A and B or twin room in Guest Houses C and D)
  • Contact method when a room becomes available

If we have trouble reaching you, the room will be offered to the next person on the waiting list. You are strongly encouraged to leave your cell phone number which the guest house easily can reach you as soon as a room becomes available.

Facilities – Guest House

There is a lounge, kitchen, Japanese-style room, vending machines (for drinks, cup noodles, boil-in-the-bag foods, razors, and detergents), in the Guest House Reception Building, and kitchenette, laundry rooms, vending machines (for drinks) in Guest Houses A, B, C, and D.

Please contact the guest house front desk if you need a bicycle, irons and electric blankets and so on.

Cleaning Service – Guest House

During your stay, your room will be serviced for replacing the sheets, pillow cover, bath towel, and face towel every three days, and (Tea set and toothbrushes are changed every day). Note that clean Face/Bath towels are also available to replace anytime from the box where it places used towels in the box located next to the front desk. If you do not require your room to be sanitary, and changed tea set and toothbrushes, hang the “Do not disturb” sign on the door. To request a change of linens only, advise the front desk.

Wheelchair-Accessible Rooms – Guest House

There are five wheelchair-accessible rooms in the Guest House. If you require a wheelchair-accessible room, make a request at the time of the reservation.

Internet Access in Guest Rooms – Guest House

Kitchen – Guest House

There is a kitchen which provided kitchen equipment as a kitchen stoves or microwave ovens, and tableware in the Guest House Reception Builiding.When you wish to use the kitchen, please contact the Guest House Front Desk. When using kitchen stoves, please follow the directions for use.

Japanese-Style Rooms – Guest House

There are two Japanese-style rooms (with 12 and 8 tatami mats) in the Guest House Reception building. These rooms can be used for meetings. When you wish to use one of the rooms, please contact the Front Desk.

Kitchenette and Laundry Room – Guest House

A kitchenette and laundry room are available for common use on each floor of the Guest House buildings. The kitchenette is equipped with a kitchen stove and a microwave oven. Please be sure to clean up the kitchenette after use and be careful to avoid causing a fire. The laundry room is equipped with a coin-operated washer and a dryer. Detergent is available from a vending machine located in the Guest House Reception building.

Medical Supplies – Guest House

A wheelchair, nonprescription medicines for external wounds and internal use, and an automated external defibrillator (AED) are available at the Guest House Reception building. A stretcher is also available in the lobby of each Guest House building.

◆Bicycles

Outside of the experimental hall

Please contact the Guest House Front Desk for bicycles that are available for use outside the experimental hall.

  • Please do not use the bicycles outside of the SPring-8 campus, unless you need to go shopping at Kouto Plaza.
  • When using a bicycle, wear the helmet and use it safely and properly.

Hyogo prefecture where SPring-8/SACLA located has enforced a mandatory bicycle insurance law. All cyclists are required to have liability insurance as of October 1, 2015. Please procure liability insurance for riding a bicycle at SPring-8/SACLA and take care when riding a bicycle.

◆Health Office

The Health Office is located adjacent to Door D3 of the Storage Ring building. The first aid is available for users who feel bad or injured during experiments.
Open Hours : from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays (nurse is available)

  • The Health Office keeps nonprescription medicines for external wounds and internal use. It also has a wheelchair and two beds for emergency use (leave your name in the guest book after use).
  • When you become sick during the night time or weekends, please use the nonprescription medicines at the Guest House front desk (Ext.8181).
  • Users can freely use the body fat monitor/scale, blood pressure meter, optometer, and health-related books in the Health Office.
  • Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are located outside the doors to the experimental hall (A1, B1, and C1) and in the Health Office. First aid kits (for external wounds) can be found outside the doors to the experimental hall (A1, B1, and C1).
  • Stretchers for sick and injured people are available in areas A1, B1, C1, and D1. For further information, contact the Health Office at Ext. 3299 or Ext. 999.

◆Reference Room

In the Reference Room, users can look through books and scientific journals, search for books retrieval system and JCPDS (Power Diffraction database) search although these materials allowed to be used only in the room.

Location : two connecting rooms are adjacent to the Door A2 of the Storage Ring building, and one is across from it.
Opening hour : 24 hours available except from December 29th to January 3rd, and SPring-8 Open Hour day.
Color copier is available in the Reference room.

◆Gym

The arena have been suspended for the time being due to the storage of repair parts. Please note in advance.
All other facilities, including the training room, multi-purpose room, changing room (with showers) and toilets are available.

*When you use, we ask for your cooperation to prevent the spread of infection such as ventilation, hand disinfection, and temperature measurement.

At SPring-8, users can use a gym. The gym consists of a training room and an arena where users can enjoy volleyball, basketball, futsal, badminton, table tennis, etc.
A changing room (with showers) is also available.
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is installed at the entrance.

For use, prior notice is not necessary, but please fill in the required information on the usage list located at the entrance (the desk in front of the whiteboard).

The gym is open from 7:00 to 22:00.
