Change to duration of the radiation safety training course and start of the e-learning system
As specified in the Act on Prevention of Radiation Hazards due to Radioisotopes, etc., which was revised in April 2018, users of radiation generators and the like are required to implement education and training depending on the manner these items are used. Given that, from FY 2019, we will change the content and duration of the radiation safety training course that is held prior to registration as a radiation worker as follows. We will be starting an e-learning system for radiation safety training in March 2019 for those who are going to register as a radiation worker.
There will be changes to the duration of the radiation safety training course that you need to take for your initial registration as a radiation worker each fiscal year as follows.
Category | From FY 2019 | FY 2018 |
Those who will not enter the accelerator tunnels | 45 minutes | 30 minutes |
Those who will enter the accelerator tunnels | 60 minutes |
Subjects: Those who are not affiliated with RIKEN Harima, such as SPring-8/SACLA users, RIKEN employees (non-Harima), Visiting Scientists, JASRI employees, contract beamline users, external users, full-time stationed external contractors, and other external companies.
– If you are going to register as a radiation worker at SPring-8/SACLA, you must be under management for radiation workers at your affiliated institution.
– For more details about the application process for registration as a radiation worker, please refer to the User Information of SPring-8 or the User Information of SACLA and the RIKEN Harima Safety Center.
If you are going to register as a radiation worker in FY 2019, please take the radiation safety training course via the e-learning system. If you complete the e-learning training course before the actual visit, you can start your experiment or work promptly when visiting the campus and competing the reception process.
We still have the training course in DVD format for those who have not taken the e-learning training course for a specific reason and visit the campus. However, please note that it may some time to start the training course.
・The e-learning system will start on March 1, 2019.
・When the Harima Safety Center (radiation front desk) has received the original copy of a Radiation Worker Application Form (for External User and Supplier) or Radiation Worker Approval Application Form, we will send an email to the applicant with information on the e-learning training course to take.
・The e-learning training course has a quiz for each session. Please note that you cannot complete the training course unless you answer all of the questions correctly.
