[IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT] Payment at On-site Cafeteria to be changed from August 2020

Thank you for using our cafeteria.
As from August 2020, we will terminate the use of current payment machine system at the cafeteria and switch from regular staffed cashiers to automated cashiers. Also, we will switch from current prepaid card to transportation ICC (integrated circuit card), or smartcard, is a rechargeable plastic prepaid card for the on-site cafeteria (There are ten different types of them. Refer to the second page in detail).
So, don’t forget that the current one will not be available anymore. (Cash, credit card, and traveler’s check are all unacceptable.).

If you don’t expect you will eat at the cafeteria by the end of July, don’t forget to refund your remaining balance on your current prepaid card by using the fare adjustment machine.
(You will still be able to get the refund after July 31, though.)

Important Point of Self-checkout System

  • Ten types of transportation ICC:
Name ICC Name ICC
Kitaca ICOCA
Suica PiTaPa
PASMO SUGOCA
TOICA nimoca
Manaca HAYAKAKEN

  • If you don’t have one, please get it beforehand at Ticket Offices in major/most train stations that deals with mainly long-distance and reserved seat travel tickets. Although we are currently discussing to hold a certain amount of ICC in addition, the quantity will be presumably limited.

For instance, the IC card, ICOCA can be purchased with cash only including a 500-yen deposit at ticketing machines that have English language option at KIX (Kansai International Airport) train stations. You can also buy it at AIOI JR station, the nearest one to the SPring-8/SACLA. Furthermore, the ICOCA can be also used for Shinki bus, the local bus company in this area.

  • ICC charge machine(s) will be installed at the entrance of the cafeteria building.

  • You can’t charge the ICCs at the automated cashiers. So please go to the entrance to charge it as necessary.

  • When you don’t need your ICC anymore and want to get the deposit back, please go to your nearest station (e.g. Aioi).
In case of ICOCA: A handling fee 220 yen will be deducted from the amount of money remaining on the card. You can get the full deposit of 500 yen back if you return the card empty.
